My Methodology:

My approach to coaching is grounded in my training as a career counselor and years of experience working with lawyers. Practically, this means that:

  • I listen more than I talk
  • I seek to understand what you need and how I can help
  • I won’t tell you what you “should” do — I’ll help you figure out what you want to do
  • I get to know you, your strengths, and interests through our sessions, various exercises and, when appropriate, through the use of the Strong Interest Inventory ©, MBTI ©, and other industry-standard assessments
  • I work to help you make sense of what is important to you and help you develop a plan of action to achieve your career and life goals

When I’m Not Working:

I faithfully follow the Washington Caps hockey team, strive to read at least 52 books a year (and sometimes succeed), love to knit/crochet, and train my yellow Lab puppy (and rarely succeed). I live with my husband, cats and dog and have two kids who have recently graduated from Virginia universities—William & Mary and Virginia Tech. Neither chose UVA despite my daily singing of The Good Ole Song to them when they were babies!
